Has your cat been eating way too much than it should?
For months, my cat would wake me up begging for food, and I would feel guilty about that all the time. But, she was piling on the weight.
Turns out, she was getting three breakfasts!
After I left for work, my cat would wake up another member of the family and then another. Now, that’s smart, isn’t it?
In this blog post, we will go over some ways in which you can help your cat lose some weight.
Helping Your Cat Shed Some Pounds
First of all, we need to keep in mind that our cats are fat because we are feeding them too much.
Here are some things to keep in mind:
- We are feeding them too much food and need to restrict the calories.
- We are feeding them too many treats, which are going over the cat’s daily caloric intake.
- We are feeding an adult cat like we would feed a kitten, and this is causing the weight to inflate.
You will have to address these issues if you’d like your cat to lose some weight.
Don’t let your cat eat from the table
Letting your kitty dine with you during mealtime sties up negative behaviors. Unless you eat a meat-based protein diet, the inconsistency and variability in fibres, fats, and proteins in the standard human diet can cause to digestive issues.
Feed High-Quality Cat Food
Give your cat high-quality cat food that contains the adequate amount of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. The best cat food contains at least 60% protein from animal sources. Plant-based sources of protein are good but not ideal.
Figure Out the Right Calories
Your vet will be able to help you figure out the right number of calories to feed your kitty. This depends on the cat’s age, breed, activity level, medical issues, etc.
Summing Up
Did we help you figure out the weight loss game?
The reason why your cat is fat is because she’s getting more food than she should, and isn’t active. You can encourage your cat to workout by playing with her or getting her some interactive toys.
